HALA Licensing Documents

The SD-3C, LLC represents the interests of the founding patent holders, Panasonic, SanDisk and Toshiba, while also serving as the licensing authority for all SD technology. Licensing requirements vary by use of SD technology. If you have any questions regarding what licensing may be required for your use of SD technology, please see Licensing. If you have any questions regarding execution of the HALA, please email helpdesk@sdcard.org.

License Fees

Host/Ancillary Product License Agreement("HALA") - $1,000 per Year

How to Obtain a HALA License

As of September 5th, 2006 you must be a member of the SD Association to execute a new HALA.

HALA agreements entered into by non-member licensees prior to September 5th, 2006 shall remain effective until such HALA expires or is terminated in accordance with the terms set forth therein.

Each licensee must submit two fully executed (signed) copies of the Host License Agreement and the Licensee Registration Form. Mail both copies to the SD Association at:

Scope of Authority

The SD-3C, LLC has granted the SD Card Association authority to execute the HALA on its behalf. The HALA is a joint agreement between the SD Card Association and the SD-3C, LLC Company as licensors, on the one hand, and the member/licensee on the other. Any interpretation, clarification, explanation, modification or negotiation of the HALA or any terms thereof must be approved both the SD Card Association and the SD-3C, LLC.
