Advanced Security SD Card: ASSD

    • SD card provides the foundation for security systems enhancements. SD cards with an embedded security system are called Advanced Security SD (ASSD) cards.
    • A security system is a SD card application performing security related operations (authentication, enforcing access control policies to assets stored on the card and providing data confidentiality and non repudiation services). The SD card application could be implemented either as F/W component running on the SD controller or an external Smart Card Module making it a Smart SD card
    • This specification serves as an extension to the SD card Physical Layer Specification and provides all the definitions required to transfer security system specific command packets from the ASSD enabled host to the ASSD card, and vice versa. The protocol extension is defined over the existing mechanisms of the SD card, making it an easy add-on.
