SD-3C Marks
The SD Card Association ("SDA"), as an authorized licensee of SD-3C LLC ("SD-3C") grants a limited, non-exclusive license without the right to sublicense to journalists and other media outlets to view, download, and distribute copies of low resolution images of SD-3C's trademarks ("SD-3C Marks") only for the journalistic purposes of conveying the identity of SD-3C, SD trademarked products, the SDA, or the SD Specification ("Purposes").
As a condition for the right to obtain low resolution images of and use the SD-3C Marks , you agree to the following terms: 1) you must retain all proprietary notices included with the Trademarks and appropriately attribute ownership of the SD-3C Marks to SD-3C LLC; 2) you may not modify the SD-3C Marks in any way; 3) you may only reproduce, publicly display, distribute, or otherwise use the low resolution images of the SD-3C Marks in connection with newspaper, magazine, or Internet media outlet only for the Purposes set forth herein; 4) you must not transfer the SD-3C Marks to any other person or entity; and 5) you must agree to the terms of use set forth herein.
The following are general guidelines for the proper use of the SD-3C Marks. Any use of the SD-3C Marks that is inconsistent with these guidelines, or other unauthorized use of the SD-3C Marks that is confusingly similar to the SD-3C Marks, may violate SD-3C's trademark rights.

Proper general use of the SD-3C Marks

Marking
  • Use of any of the SD-3C Marks should include the designation ™. Example: "The microSD™ card's capacity is very impressive."
  • Materials that use any of the SD-3C Marks should also include a statement identifying SD-3C's ownership of the mark or marks. For example: "The SD, SDHC, miniSDHC, microSDHC, SDXC and microSDXC Logos are trademarks of SD-3C LLC."
  • When using any of the SD-3C Marks repeatedly in a document, the ™ designation should, at a minimum, be used when the SD-3C Marks first appear, such as in the heading or title, or when first referenced in the text.
  • Do not use the ™ symbols in conjunction with the SD-3C and SD Card Association company names. When referring to SD-3C, it is preferable to use the full name, "SD-3C LLC" and when referring to the SD Card Association, it is preferable to use either the full name "SD Card Association" or "SDA".
Form of Use
  • Refrain from using the SD-3C Marks in a possessive or plural form or as a verb or participle.

    Correct: The store sells SD memory cards.

    Incorrect: The store sells micro SDs.

  • The SD-3C Marks should always be used as an adjective and followed by a common or generic noun. Do not use the SD-3C Marks as a descriptive noun for the product.

    Correct: Recording photographs with the SDHC memory card is very simple.

    Incorrect: Buy an SDHC to record your photographs.

  • The SD-3C Marks should always be set apart from surrounding text and displayed in logo format or using the following format:
    1. The words micro and mini should be displayed in all lowercase before the remaining portion of the mark. For example:

      "miniSD" shall not be expressed in text as follows:
      "MiniSD", "Mini-SD", "MINI SD", "MINI-SD", "mini-SD", or "mini SD."

      "microSD" shall not be expressed in text as follows:
      "MicroSD", "Micro-SD", "MICRO SD", "MICRO-SD", "micro-SD", "micro SD", or "μSD."

    2. The SD-3C Marks should never be connected to other words, such as by hyphens.

      Incorrect: [Product name] is a SD-compatible product."

  • The SD-3C Marks should not be used with any other trademarks, logos, designs, names, or other marks in a way that could confuse the consumer or give the impression that the other marks or their owners are associated with SD-3C.

This agreement is being entered into for, and shall inure to, the benefit of SD-3C LLC and, as a result, SD-3C shall be a third party beneficiary to this Agreement, and shall be entitled to directly enforce any and all rights and remedies under this Agreement, including but not limited to claims based on breach of contract and claims for injunctive relief and/or damages, in addition to any other available remedies.

SDA Application Designations and SDA Pictographs

The SD Card Association ("SDA") grants a limited, non-exclusive license without the right to sublicense to journalists and other media outlets to view, download, and distribute copies of low resolution images of the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs only for the journalistic purposes of conveying the identity of SDA, the SD Specification, or licensed products that comply with the applicable SD Specification ("Purposes").
As a condition for the right to obtain low resolution images of and use the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs, you agree to the following terms: 1) you may not modify the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs in any way; 2) you may only reproduce, publicly display, distribute, or otherwise use the low resolution images of the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs in connection with newspaper, magazine, or Internet media outlet only for the Purposes set forth herein; 3) you must not transfer the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs to any other person or entity; and 4) you must agree to the terms of use set forth herein.
The following are general guidelines for the proper use of the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs. Any use of the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs that is inconsistent with these guidelines, or other unauthorized use of the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs that is confusingly similar to the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs, may violate SDA's rights.

Proper general use of the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs.

Marking
  • SDA Application Designations. Whenever the SD Application Designations with SD Logo are displayed, the "TM" symbol shall be displayed to the lower right of the SD Logo and the "TM" symbol shall be of sufficient size to be visible to the naked eye. If the SD Logo is smaller than 6mm in height, the "TM" symbol may be omitted. If the SD Application Format Pictographs with SD Logo are used in printed matter or on a web page, the following trademark notice shall be placed on such printed matter or web page on at least one page: "SD Logo is a trademark of SD-3C, LLC."
  • SDA Pictographs. Except as provided above in Paragraph 1, a trademark notice is not required for the SDA Pictographs.
Form of Use
  • The shape of the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs shall be exactly the same as the shape provided by SDA in the digital files provided. No use of shadow effects, gradation, decorative patterns, or any decorative elements are permitted.
  • The size of the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs is not regulated so long as the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs are clearly legible.
  • The SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs may be represented in any single color, including a hologram effect sheet, so long as they are clearly visible against the background to which they are affixed.
  • Under no circumstances shall any SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs be placed in such proximity to any of the SD-3C Marks as to make the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs appear to be a part of the SD-3C Marks.
  • There is no clear zone requirement for the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs. However, the clear zone of the SD-3C Marks shall be maintained if the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs are used therewith.
  • Smart Pictograph. If used in conjunction with the SD-3C Marks, the smart Pictograph shall be the same height and in the same color as the SD-3C Marks.
  • The SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs should not be used with any other trademarks, logos, designs, names, or other marks in a way that could confuse the consumer or give the impression that the other marks or their owners are associated with SDA.

You shall notify the SDA of any suspected violations of these guidelines or of any suspected unlicensed or unauthorized use of the SDA Application Designations and the SDA Pictographs.
